Here is another Baby Announcement sign I made.  This one is for the Wilson’s.  Their babies nursery reminds me of a tree house.  They painted a beautiful mural on the wall of a big tree with a couple owls perched on a branch.  I really wanted this sign to look like it belonged in that room.

I’m going to a baby shower next weekend.  I love giving gifts as long as I can personalize them.  For this shower I already know a couple things, the babies gender and name, as well as some of the colors the will be used in the nursery.  The family was registered at several places, so after looking at the registry I came up with my plan.

I wanted to create a personalized toy box.  So I got to work and created this:

I made this sign for a good friend of mine.  She is giving it to her sister as a wedding gift.  I was given pictures of the recipient to be’s house and creative license.  My friend told me I nailed it and trust me that was a huge relief!  It is really hard to make something for someone that is going to give it to someone else, lol.  It was nerve racking!!

I saw a sign similar to this on Pinterest and wanted to try my hand at creating one.  For more signs available, please check out the Etsy Shop.

So Pretty in Paint: Welcome Friends & Family

Since posting it on Facebook last night, I’ve already had two requests to make similar ones but adding “The ___ Family Welcomes our Friends & Family.”  So excited to create something for someone else!  Stay tuned for those pictures!

After creating a few signs for my house, my husband put his foot down and clearly stated there is no more room in our house for anymore signs 😉 So what is a girl to do… create signs for other people of course!  My friend Amber had her first child a little over a year ago but did not have one of those baby announcement signs, so I decided to create one for her.  This was my first attempt and I think it turned out pretty good.

There are so many chalkboard signs out there… and mine isn’t much different but I thought I’d share it anyways.

My husband turned 30 right before our wedding and all of our extra money went towards the wedding, so I had to get creative.  I threw him a surprise BBQ party and invited all his friends and made him a little sign to hang up outside.

This sign was incredibly easy to make and did not cost me a thing.

Supplies Needed:

  • Piece of wood
  • 4 wooden dowels
  • Hot glue gun
  • Spray paint
  • Chalkboard paint
  • Foam paint brush
  • piece of chalk
  • Two small screws
  • Two soda pop tops
  • Twine
  • Plant hook

Here’s what I did:

First:  Once I found the piece of wood I wanted to use, I used 4 wooden dowels (had on hand) and the hot glue gun to create a frame on the piece of wood.

Second: Once the glue was dry, I took it outside and covered in a couple coats of orange spray paint.  We are OSU Beavers in this house 🙂 And let this sit overnight to totally dry.

Third: I painted the chalkboard paint inside the frame and let that dry overnight.

Fourth: Screwed the screws into part of the soda pop top and ran a piece of twine through both tops and tied a big bow.

Fifth:  Found the spot outside I wanted to hang it, screwed in the plant hook and hung it up.

I finished it off with a Happy Birthday note and it was done.  Voilà !

Here is another very easy and very inexpensive tutorial.  This one was actually a gift that I made for our entire wedding party.  So I made 19 of these and used a lot of wine corks!

Supplies Needed:

  • 64 wine corks (per frame)
  • Picture frame
  • Hot glue gun & glue

Here’s what I did:

First: I glued corks together in sets of two.

Second: Once I had my corks glued in sets of two, I started gluing them together to frame the picture frame.

Third: Glued the corks to the frame and that’s it.

This project was incredibly easy but making 19 of them was incredibly time consuming and I did manage to burn myself a few times 🙂
